Rubicon Expansion

In my last post, I mentioned that I would next talk about my exploration fit and so forth.  I may only briefly do that now, and instead concentrate on talking about the Rubicon expansion launching tomorrow, and the features I most care about.  There is a good chance my exploration habits may be changing with the release of this expansion, I will have to play around with the new ships to know for sure though.

I currently only run data and relic sites in null sec, using a covert ops fitted Tengu with an interdiction nullifier fitted.  I have been using this fit since Odyssey released with great success.  Even with the price drops on loot from these sites, if you know what regions to go to (hint:  Sansha relics are most profitable) you can still make tons of isk.  A trip of just a few hours for me can net me 250 mil+, most of that coming from T2 and T1 Armor Plates from relic sites.

With the new Sisters of Eve faction cruiser, I may be changing my habits up a bit.  It seems that you can now have an all in one ship that can run both hacking sites and combat sites.  However, I am a bit of a pussy and don't like that I will be losing my interdiction nullifier if I swap from Tengu to this, I might stick to low sec in the SoE ships.  At least until I learn how to escape and avoid bubble camps, something I currently have little experience with.

Also, if I remember right, the SoE ships only have T1 bonuses to the relic and data analyzers.  This should be ok for low sec, but for null I may want to stick with the Tengu since it gets the same T2 bonuses as the covert ops frigates, and that extra bit really helps for those tougher cans.

Another possibility I see is getting more expensive kills off of explorer hunting.  Although it won't be as easy as the ships can now fight back.  However a covops fit Proteus would be a great way to take down these ships, and the Proteus is another ship I have experience in hunting with in wormholes.  The Proteus can even have a flight of light drones, depending on how you fit it, to neutralize their main source of dps, drones.

With the new mobile base structure, I see a lot of potential with solo raiding wormhole space sites now too, with some actual effectiveness.  Which for me just means more people to hunt in wormholes, a huge plus.

I am liking the addition of ghost sites, and it seems the SoE cruiser will be great for running these, assuming the incoming dps won't be super huge.  I don't really know much about them yet though, except that they are super risky and loss of your ship may be expected if you are too slow or screw up.

Hopefully Rubicon becomes another expansion I love, and is good enough to keep me interested enough in the game to make more time to play during my currently busy schedule.  As I've said before I loved Odyssey for it enhancing my playstyle, and it seems Rubicon will be doing the same thing again.  And finally, a covops ship designed for running combat sites, this is a much needed ship that should have already been in the game ages ago.
